MEALS WITH JESUS - Meals as Hope | Lucy Riche 2020

MEALS WITH JESUS - Meals as Hope | Lucy Riche 2020

“I think sometimes as the wider Church, we are actually quite good at fulfilling people’s physical needs. We have food banks, and community dinners, and we have Christmas hampers, and we invite people over to eat together. And these are all really important and necessary things as a Church. But I do wonder if that’s the easiest part of all of this. We like practical things that we can do. The harder part is meeting people’s emotional and spiritual needs.
Jesus didn’t just meet people’s physical needs. He healed, He spoke truth, He offered forgiveness of sins - this was the greater hope than the food itself.  Remember food is temporary, the 5,000 would have been hungry again.
The only real hope we can offer people is Jesus.” - Lucy Riche

If you're interested in the questions Lucy references at the end, here they are for you! We'd love to chat with you too.

> Do you know what the Hope is that Jesus Christ, our Messiah, offers us?
> Do you carry and live out of the Hope of Jesus in your own life?
> Do you prioritise your relationship with God, his Word and worship, and are you open to his correction in your life?
> How does your life look when things get hard?
> Are there areas you are still fearful in, still clinging to earthly hopes instead of in Jesus?
> Do you really understand what his life, death and resurrection mean for you?
> How do you feel about sharing the hope you have found in Jesus with others?
> Do you feel under resourced?
